The HUSH BAND makes music that is quieter than the wind through the trees. Not your average marching band, HUSH BAND is a peaceful, whispering entity that blends marching band music, silence, improv, and composition with movement, listening and awareness of the sounds and movement around us. Try to listen to the sounds that are farthest away from you. Try to listen to sounds that are very close by. What do you notice? The HUSH BAND is led by Erin Donovan (percussion, composer) with very special guests Camille Watts (flute), Lori Gemmell (harp), Yvonne Ng (movement), Nick Dourado (saxophone) and Kelvin Mansaray (tuba/percussion). The title, Strangest Dream, references an anti-war song written by Ed McCurdy and draws inspiration from its refrain “I dreamed the world had all agreed to put an end to war.” Donovan describes, “If marching bands were originally meant to rally and organize troupes and build morale before fighting, then Hush Band is a rallying cry for peace, connection, community, and quiet communication.”
