This Glossary is an ongoing, cumulative project that assembles concepts used in the Blackwood’s publications and programs. Rooted in our ongoing interrogation of “useful knowledge” through the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge series—and beyond it—the Glossary illuminates, complicates, and enriches the terms that compose it. In step with the multiple forms of authorship, knowledge practices, and worldviews that animate our programs, readers will find divergent ways of writing about, with, or through ideas and concepts.
Spanning issues in statehood and law; climate change and environmental violence; capitalism and economics; care and work; globalization and logistics; and data and technology, this Glossary also offers an alternative way of navigating Blackwood programs, driven by language, etymology, and translation.
