The upcoming project by St Marie φ Walker will investigate performing bodies, movement/stillness, costume, signage and text coming together into a tangible mobile installation for QUIET PARADE. Collective Messages consists of performers dressed in custom made pastel t-shirts gilded with text-axioms which reflect each person differently. Individuals will carry large protest-type signs. They will oscillate formations and reconfigure the collective text into varied assertive statements. Their choreographed series of formations will communicate in tableau throughout the parade. The work will experiment with forms of communication, collaborative statement-making, physical gesture and collective bodies as an authoritative aesthetic. The project becomes both play and possibility for the participant, the public, and the artists themselves.
