Golden Streams: Artists' Collaboration & Exchange in the 1970's

November 7 - December 15, 2002
Opening reception: November 6, 730 - 930 pm

Curator-in-Residence Luis Jacob presented collaborations and exchange projects of four artists' groups working in Vancouver and Toronto during the 1970s: Image Bank, General Idea, Banal Beauty Inc., and the New York Corres Sponge Dance School of Vancouver. Produced in a wide variety of media, the artists' works explore new and marginal media, actual and virtual communities, the appropriation of mass culture imagery, and the intervention into existing social structures. The exhibition was scheduled to travel to Plug In ICA in Winnipeg in the spring 2004.

A catalogue was published and is available for purchase from the gallery. (here)

The exhibition received financial assistance from the Ontario Arts Council.
